The
Painted Suit
Public art in London is currently being destroyed. The desecration
of publicly expressed thoughts and sentiments by 'graffiti removal'
is at odds with principles of freedom of speech in a democracy such
as Britain. If a billboard can legally display virtually anything,
why is public imaging by the public erased? In an attempt to redress
this apparently unjust state of affairs I have taken the liberty
of developing the painted suit; a new concept in public imaging.
Here is how the painted suit works. One takes a standard two-piece
suit and places it upright against a solid vertical surface. Then
using panel paints of various colours, the jacket and trousers are
transformed into a visual design. After a few minutes the paint
is dry, and the suit is ready to wear. Now the idea is to wear the
painted suit in a busy place, such as the high street or in a bar,
where fashion statements are recognised. In this way, public art
can double up as fashion; public artists get their say, no one is
prosecuted and the world becomes a much more colourful place.
